In 2015, Green Bay Packers made it to the divisional playoffs, where they lost to the Arizona Cardinals. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn’t have No. 1 receiver Jordy Nelson all season and didn’t have Randall Cobb in that game. When Rodgers has his weapons, he’s as good as there is in the NFL and gives the Packers a chance to win a title.

And in 2016, he’ll be getting Nelson back to go along with Cobb but the Packers aren’t stopping there. Monday, the team decided to add another weapon, agreeing to terms with tight end Jared Cook. Cook doesn’t have the biggest name among tight ends in the NFL now but the league will know him in 2016.

He hasn’t put up great numbers since coming into the NFL in 2009 because he hasn’t had the quarterback. At 6’5″, 250 pounds, running a 4.5 40 and having a 41-inch vertical leap, Cook is a vertical threat. The 28-year-old will threaten opposing defenses down the seam to go with the outside weapons Rodgers has.

Teams that have a tight end that can threaten the defense down the field have good passing game. Add that to Rodgers big arm with Nelson and Cobb and we could see something special in 2016. If the Packers can get running back Eddie Lacy going, the Packers offense will be a complete unit, barring injury.

With stud OLB Clay Matthews going back to his natural position, the Packers need only an ILB to contend.

That’s what the draft is for, where GM Ted Thompson ususally does his damage.
