Maryland’s Sean Davis is an emerging prospect who has risen up draft boards lately.

Maryland’s Sean Davis is a physically gifted defensive back who also features good size for the position. He spent the majority of this past year lining up at cornerback where he shown major improvement each and every week.

His size and speed combination allows him to matchup with any pass catcher on the field. He has had success handling tight ends in man coverage situations which only increases his versatility. Davis is someone who could potentially line up at either safety or cornerback in the NFL.

At corner, Davis shows the balance and hip fluidity to keep in-phase with his target. He keeps his pad level down which allows him to smoothly change direction. When in man coverage, Davis does a good job tracking the ball while also showing the ball skills to pull down interceptions.

His quick-twitch skills allow him to click and close on the football when lined up in zone. He possesses the instincts to quickly read the quarterback and developing routes.

This is a physical defender who doesn’t hesitate to support the run. He is a reliable tackler who approaches the ball carrier under control. However, Davis has also shown the ability to make a big hit and deliver a jolt.

There’s still some rawness and inconsistency to his game which is why he’s more of a day-two prospect. He’ll need some time to develop and perfect his craft. Luckily, Davis has experience working on special teams which is where he could make an early impact at the next level.

He especially does a good job as a gunner in punt coverage. Contributing on special teams will allow Davis to help his team win until he’s able to crack the lineup at either cornerback or safety.
