The Los Angeles Rams made the BIG trade with the Tennessee Titans in order to get a quarterback. That made many wonder which of the top quarterback prospects would be taken No. 1 overall. Of course, the choices are California quarterback Jared Goff and North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz.

The media is completely split on the matter but ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes it’s going to be Goff. And NFL Network’s Adam Silver has confirmed that at least at this time, Goff is the guy. He referred to trip head coach Jeff Fisher and GM Les Snead to see Jared Goff in Berkeley for a private workout.

Goff wasn’t prepared for the inclement weather, but it became windy and poured down rain as soon as the workout began. It got to the point where Fisher attempted to cover the footballs but it was ineffective. Goff was once pulled from a game in inclement weather so throwing a slippery ball was seen as a weakness of his.

And the pressure was on because Fisher and Snead had just arrived from North Dakota, where they watched fellow top quarterback prospect Carson Wentz go through his private workout. And Goff, according to one witness, flat-out “ripped it” and another person who attended the session said, “The ball never hit the ground.”

After that throwing session, Fisher and Snead knew who they wanted to go back to Los Angeles with. Then two months later, they pulled the trigger on a blockbuster trade that shook up the 2016 draft. A little hint of what was to come came from Fisher talking to Silver Thursday morning, a couple of hours after the announcement of the trade.

Fisher said, “It was a great opportunity to see him throw a wet ball. We were just going through the process, and he made all the throws, and he was outstanding.”

There you have it!

A young star quarterback going to a team with a great, young defense with a young, superstar running back. There’s a young, 1st-round pick a receiver there that seemed to get on track last year without the help of a solid quarterback too. The Rams are going back to Los Angeles with the big splash you’re supposed to enter a big city with.

And Goff is just the guy to get that done with.
