Surprise!

Okay, maybe not.

Shortly after the big trade the Los Angeles Rams made to get the No. 1 overall pick, the Philadelphia Eagles stepped up and acquired the No. 2 overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. Both teams obviously made these bold moves to put themselves in position to draft a franchise quarterback.

On Wednesday, the Eagles announced they will go ahead and pay that king’s ransom. Throughout this offseason, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson has come out in the media to expressed how sprung (in love) he is with Carson Wentz. The Browns were sprung on Jared Goff but the Rams were more sprung, trading into the first round.

So the Browns were willing to trade out of the pick since they were no longer able to get the guy they want. Of course, GMs lie a lot during draft season so it is possible that Goff and Wentz go in reverse order. Either way, we know that quarterbacks will be picked 1-2 for the second year in a row.

I didn’t and still don’t agree with draft analyst Mike Mayock’s take on the two quarterbacks. He believes that Wentz and Goff are better than 2015 draft class quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota. But apparently, the Eagles and the Browns agree with Mayock, giving up their farms for them.

It looks like Sam Bradford is in Philly on borrowed time now!
