Underappreciated with Seahawks

The worst thing you can do to a great athlete is not give him the credit deserves for what he has done. And the Seahawks did just that after their Super Bowl run following the 2013 season. Lynch carried the Seahawks to the Super Bowl, especially in the playoffs with 96 rushing yards per game and four TDs while Wilson threw for 174 per game with three TDs.

Yet, all the talk was about how Wilson is an elite quarterback, a level he still hadn’t reached, and it got worse. Lynch averaged 106 yards per game and five yards per carry in the playoffs following 2014. In the Super Bowl, Lynch had 102 yards and a TD, including a great run that got them down to the one in the closing minutes of the game.

And instead of feeding the beast that the Patriots couldn’t stop one more time, the Seahawks tried to make Russell Wilson the hero and he threw an INT. And remember, Lynch had to hold out to get paid in 2014. Then 2015, when Russell Wilson became a free agent, he had no problems getting paid like the elite QB he isn’t while Lynch struggled to his money again.

Then Lynch had sports hernia surgery last November and couldn’t play when he was expected to back in January. After the season, the chatter swirled about the Seahawks wanting him to take a huge pay cut. After carrying the Seahawks to two Super Bowls, Lynch would have none of that, opting to announce his retirement (wink).
