Minnesota Viking Select Laquon Treadwell At No. 23 Overall

Minnesota Viking Select Laquon Treadwell At 23rd Overall in the 2016 Overall Draft To Bolster Passing Offense
At one point Laquon Treadwell was supposed to be the 1st wide receiver taken in the draft, but one sub par combine featuring a 4.65 40 yard dash later Treadwell slipped to the Vikings at 23rd overall. The fourth receiver taken in the draft, Treadwell is a steal for Minnesota.
Last season Teddy Bridgewater’s favorite receiver was Stefon Diggs, a guy who was easily taken out of the game by opposing offenses after a few weeks of production. The offense had to run solely off of Adrian Peterson and the ground game, part of the reason they stalled out in the playoffs.
The Ole Miss prospect looked great on the field and should be a great addition to the offense right away. It was a couple of key drops in combine drills as well as a slow 40 time that lead to Treadwell’s slide.
Still, there are questions about his hands and quickness as a result, but with Diggs working as an elusive short pass option Treadwell can add a deep ball component this team has been missing.
He may be disappointed he slid so far since he was once a projected top 10 pick, but in his post selection interview he acknowledged that he really is now in a great situation as a result. Ready to compete for the playoffs day one, there will be plenty of opportunities for Treadwell to prove those doubters wrong.
He may not have been the first wide receiver taken, but now he will be helping develop Teddy Bridgewater on the Vikings rather than trying to save RG3’s career with the Browns. Hard to complain about that.
The Minnesota Viking Select Laquon Treadwell is something we all probably saw in mock drafts.
