The Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Vernon Hargreaves III to help their secondary.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers get Vernon Hargreaves III here to lock down wide receivers in the NFC South. Ranked #1 out of high school Hargeaves has been consistent since. Tampa Bay actually lucks out big time by adding picks for a guy they probably would have taken with the 9th overall pick. Bringing in Brent Grimes from the Miami Dolphins was huge to play alongside Alterraun Verner.

Now, the Bucs get a young, athletic corner that takes a lot of chances. Even though Hargreaves is only 5’10 204 lbs he is very strong and once he gets his hands on you, he should be able to stick with you. The knock on Hargreaves is that he really doesn’t have the height. As athletic as he is though it shouldn’t be a problem. Hargreaves game is pretty much identical to Vontae Davis of the Indianapolis Colts.

The size thing is the only real concern, but obviously the Buccaneers don’t see it as an issue.

Although Tampa Bay probably could have benefited from Laremy Tunsil’s services, it’s probably best they took the corner out of Florida. The Bucs pick a player that they have seen a lot of and can feel comfortable with. It does hurt that all of Tampa’s corners are 5’10 but, if they can stick to receivers hips you force quarterbacks throw a perfect throw. Look for the Bucs to address a pass rusher and some offensive line help in the next couple rounds.

The pick I would have went with: Vernon Hargreaves III
