The Oakland Raiders struck gold, or should I say silver and black, when they signed free agent linebacker Bruce Irvin. Irvin was drafted in the first round by the Seattle Seahawks as a defensive end back in 2012. But in his time with the Seahawks, he and the rest of the NFL found out he can do much more than that.

So the question for the Raiders now is where do they play him?

When asked if Irvin was a defensive end or a linebacker, GM Reggie McKenzie told SiriusXM NFL Radio, “He’s a linebacker. He’s an outside linebacker that can play defensive end whenever you need him to because he’s too athletic and fast to not put him at linebacker to at least run around and do some things.

“He can cover, he can run, he can do so many things, they’re [defensive coaching staff] excited to figure out how to use him in many ways.”

McKenzie then went on about how the Raiders were going to give him more opportunities to rush the passer. But if you have a guy that can do all those things, they should probably continue to use all of his talents but at a different position. I’m suggesting that the Raiders move Irvin to an inside linebacker position.
