Jalen Ramsey Goes Down With an Injury
Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan must be doing something wrong to have this kind of luck. For two years in a row, his 1st-round pick, went down with a knee injury before taking his first NFL snap. Last year, outside linebacker Dante Fowler went down with a torn ACL to miss the season.
This year, it’s cornerback Jalen Ramsey, going down with a small tear in the meniscus of his knee. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport first reported this news on Thursday. The report also says that Ramsey will be seeking a second opinion next week.
The good thing is as of right now, it is believed that he will be ready for the start of training camp. Life in the NFL is hard enough on rookie cornerbacks so it wouldn’t be good for him to miss a single rep from training camp. The hope now is that the injury doesn’t affect his performance early on.
With running back Chris Ivory being added to quarterback Blake Bortles this offseason. The team appears to have enough to do some serious damage in the AFC South this year. The additions to their front-7 including inside linebacker Myles Jack have loaded the defensive front-7 up too.
No pressure, but if Ramsey and newly signed corner Prince Amukamara can come through with the bump-run-coverage head coach Gus Bradley requires, the Jaguars have a real shot in 2016. The reason why the Jaguars picked so high in 2016 is because Fowler was out that year.
So the Jaguars and their fans are left to hope that this injury isn’t something that slows him down in his rookie season.
The Jaguars’ hopes of winning the AFC South could depend on it.
