It’s absolutely crazy to see how the Jacksonville Jaguars have had back-to-back offseason injuries to 1st-round picks. But there is some good news about both picks going into this season. For one, it appears that 2016 1st-round pick Jalen Ramsey’s injury will only sideline him 4-6 weeks.

Then, the Jaguars were very encouraged by what they saw from 2015 1st-round pick Dante Fowler. Fowler got around well during the team’s first day of organized team activities Monday. And of course, head coach Gus Bradley made mention of what he saw via Jaguars.com

He said, “I thought Dante [Fowler] looked really good. He still has some work to do. He has a little rustiness. We’re holding him back a little. We just want to see how he comes along and how he handles it, but attitude? Work ethic? Unbelievable.”

Football was taken away from Fowler for a full year because he tore an ACL in his first practice as a Jaguar. So he attitude couldn’t be anything short of unbeleivable but it’s more than that. Fowler is especially happy that he still has all the gifts that made him a 1st-round pick in the first place.

He said, “I can turn it loose. I felt pretty good, especially bending the corner and turning my torque and things like that. That was my biggest concern. That’s what I wanted to see, and I felt pretty good.”

The real test is obviously when the Jaguars put the pads on but he’s off to a good start. If he, Ramsey and 2016 2nd-round pick Myles Jack can stay healthy. the Jaguars defense will be formidable. They have  a nice, young offense behind quarterback Blake Bortles too.

Consider them a threat to win the AFC South now!
