I’m starting to wonder if this football thing is meant to be for Oakland Raiders receiver Andre Debose. The guy is a tremendous talent, who went to Florida as a 5-star recruit. With his blazing speed, hands, and kick return ability, he was supposed to be the next Percy Harvin.

But he never did reach his potential at Florida because his collegiate career was marred by injuries. It started with a torn hamstring in 2009 and came back in 2013 with torn ACL in 2013. But in the midst of all that he still showed big-play ability, catching four touchdowns of 64 yards or longer.

Debose also finished tied for third all-time in the SEC with five combined return touchdowns. Through all the injuries, he still maintained his speed, running a 4.3 10 at his Pro Day. So the Raiders picked him in the seventh round in 2015 to try to capitalize on his playmaking potential.

When Debose first got to Raider Nation, he flashed that playmaking ability, showing out in minicamp and OTAs. But in early June last year, Debose was lost for the season with a torn Achilles before he could even put on a pair of shoulder pads for the Raiders.

He then makes it through his rehab and looks like he’s ready to go for the 2016 season. But in his first OTA practice, Debose gets put on IR again, this time from an undisclosed injury. The Raiders picked up to receivers soon thereafter and undrafted free agen Max McCaffrey looks good.

So one has to wonder what kind of future he has with the Raiders and the NFL.
