Western Michigan’s Corey Davis is a high-end prospect with a chance to be the 1st receiver selected in the 2017 NFL Draft. This Corey Davis scouting report will speak to this fact.

Corey Davis features a great combination of size, length, speed and fluidity. He’s the type of receiver who can do it all whether it be stretch the field or work the underneath routes. Western Michigan’s offense gives him a chance to run several different routes which will help with this transition to the NFL.

Davis’ explosiveness makes him a big-play threat as he’s capable of outpacing defender. He is also able to stretch the field because he knows how to change speeds. Defenders must always be on their toes because Davis can quickly change speeds and get behind the cornerback.

This is a strong overall route runner who has the short-area burst and fluidity to create easy separation. That burst really jumps off the tape on crossing routes where he’s able to outpace the defensive angle and gain the edge.

Davis also has a size advantage which allows him to high-point the football. He does an excellent job adjusting his body and timing his jump to win in contested situations.

The ball sticks to Davis’ hands as he routinely plucks it away from his frame. He has shown the ability to make some spectacular catches.

Overall, this is an elite prospect who should come off the board early in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He’s a well-rounded player who can take the top off a defense as well as run clean routes.

He’ll be in the discussion to be the first receiver selected in next year’s draft.
