Dez Bryant

For the quarterback, the most important man on the field, to do his job, a great No. 1 receiver is needed. And Dez Bryant is among the best receivers in the NFL when he is healthy. But the problem for Bryant and the Cowboys is he wasn’t healthy for a large chunk of last season.

Bryant is the kind of receiver that could make a quarterback better with his extra-large catch radius. That widens the strike zone for the backup quarterbacks and eases the loss of Romo. But that wasn’t to be because Bryant injured his foot in Week 1.

Romo was already keeping the team afloat without his No. 1 receiver in the lineup. So when he went down with Bryant already injured, it was even harder for the Cowboys. He returned when the Cowboys played their seventh game of the season but clearly wasn’t the same.

He came back way too early and hobbled around, unable to get separation or go up for the ball. So eight games into his comeback, the Cowboys went ahead and shut him down. Bryant is now getting ready to bounce back with Romo in 2016 and now, they have help coming.
