Ezekiel Elliott

I don’t know why but the Cowboys’ 2016 draft has been grossly underestimated by most of the media. He actually makes the team better than it was when DeMarco Murray was in Dallas. The Cowboys went 12-4 in 2014 because they didn’t depend on Romo to do everything on offense.

They constantly gave the ball to Murray and he led the NFL in rushing with 1,845 yards. He also made the defense better in 2014, keeping them off the field and controlling the clock. With the offensive line the Cowboys have, there’s no reason not to run the air out of the ball.

Here in 2016, the Cowboys have an even better running back in 1st-round pick Ezekiel Elliott. Elliott was picked at No. 4 overall because he is special and a complete back that blocks and catches. He’s a complete runner that’s elusive, breaks tackles, and gains yards after contact.

Murray is more of a straight-line guy that will hit it up in there but doesn’t make guys miss or break tackles as much. If there was a guy in the hole or a 1-on-1 situation in the secondary, Elliott can beat that guy. So he’ll get more out of the big holes the Cowboys create in 2016.
