As we all know already, Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant was cleared to practice for the first time this offseason after a recent visit to doctors for an evaluation of surgically repaired broken foot. But he won’t fully return to work until training camp rolls around.

Bryant did individual drills at OTAs Tuesday, then did the walk-through portion of it Wednesday. The Cowboys can’t afford to lose Bryant again this year so they have a plan in place for him. Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett explained the plan for Bryant this offseason.

He told the Forth Worth Star-Telegram, “We’re just going to be deliberate with our players. “Anybody who’s coming off an injury, we’ve just got to make sure we’re deliberate in bringing them back. Dez did some individual work [Tuesday]. He was really good his first day back.

“We backed him off of that [Wednesday]. He was involved in some of the walk-through stuff, and we’ll have a similar schedule for him next week. We’ll bump him up if we feel like we want to, but we don’t anticipate him practicing fully at all in the minicamp.

“Hopefully, he will get some productive work in.”

Because of injuries and Bryant’s contract situation last season, Bryant and quarterback Tony Romo haven’t had a whole lot of work together since the end of the 2014 season. But the two will have to wait until training camp to get extended time together in order to knock all the rust off.
