Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan made a lot of big promises since taking the position. Among the big talk and promises he made since getting hired is getting into the playoffs. And the defense, what Ryan is most known for, is the reason why the promise wasn’t kept last year.
Ryan has always made big promises and he hasn’t kept all of them. According to former Bills quarterback Jim Kelly, Ryan doesn’t have long to keep the promises he made to the Bills. He thinks Ryan has to take the Bills to the playoffs to retain his job.
Kelly told The Jim Rome Show, “I think Rex will probably be looking for another job . I think everybody knows that, including Rex.”
Ryan recently told The MMQB’s Jenny Vrentas in response to the speculation, “The media looks at it. Well, we have to win this year. Or what? Oh, I am going to be fired? I don’t think so. I’m not going to worry about it, because we are going to win anyway. But it’s like, that is an ultimatum. No.”
With Kelly’s assertion of Ryan’s make-or-break year come with concerns about the Bills ability to stay healthy. Star wideout Sammy Watkins had offseason surgery and 2016 1st-round pick Shaq Lawson will likely miss the start of the 2016 season to put Ryan’s campaign in jeopardy.
Kelly went on to say, “On paper, yeah, we look great, and we should be a very good team, but you cannot go to the playoffs, you cannot win championships when you’re spending most of your time in the training room,”
Pressure on!
