The NFL Draft Bust-O-Meter is a way to look at NFL prospects and rookies chances of failing.

This article is going to look at five NFL rookies that will struggle to meet expectations. A lot of this has to do with the fact they were drafted too early and thus will be expected to perform at a high level.

The NFL Draft Bust-O-Meter gives a range of how likely a specific prospect or player will be a major disappointment. I use a scale of 0 to 5 with 5 meaning the player will absolutely be a bust. JaMarcus Russell is someone in the past that received a 5 on the Bust-O-Meter.

Russell was always at a high risk to bust thanks to his draft position, the fact he landed with the Raiders, the position he played and because so much of his value was built off his physical skills.

He had a solid college career, but there were plenty of red flags that flashed the risk he represented as a prospect.

The situation wasn’t helped by the fact that Lane Kiffin was the Raiders head coach and new to the position. This was a newly hired coach who lacked head coaching experience and whose only major experience was 1 year as USC’s offensive coordinator.

While several of the players on this list have high bust potential, no are in a perfect storm situation like Russell.
