How does head coach Rex Ryan believe the Buffalo Bills won the offseason?
His team had way too many things go wrong for them this offseason. First-round pick Shaq Lawson had surgery on his shoulder about a minute after he was drafted. LeSean McCoy has ankle issues and fellow running back Karlos Williams gained weight with his pregnant wife.
If that’s not bad enough, 2014 first-round pick Sammy Watkins had surgery on his foot to repair a stress-fracture. And when the injury first happened, he wasn’t to sure when he would be back. When speaking to Buffalo News, it sounded as if he didn’t even know when it happened.
He said after watching a Bills’ OTA practice from the sideline a few weeks ago, “Just something happened and I went and got checked and we figured out it was a stress fracture. And it’s doing great.”
But now, Watkins sounds much better about training camp, telling TSN.ca., “For training camp, I think I’ll definitely be available,. I might sit out two or three days. It’s all about how I feel within those days. The goal is to come back and be prepared for training camp.”
I still don’t understand how Ryan believes his Bills won the offseason but things aren’t as bad as originally thought. Watkins missing a few training camp is much better than what could have been. He and Tyron Taylor took time to jell last season so the quicker he’s back, the better.
That offense needs to be in since it’s not known how the defense will be.
