Tight End

From Dave Casper, to Raymond Chester, to Todd Christensen, great tight ends are a part of Raider tradition. They do it all from run blocking, to pass blocking to converting those key third downs.  At times, the Raiders had all track stars at receiver with the tight end as the possession receiver.

But make not mistake, in Raider Nation, the tight end was also a big part of the vertical game. The Raiders have always had athletic tight ends that can beat the defense down the field. They were among the first NFL teams to have tight ends catching the ball 50 yards down the field.

To continue that tradition now, the Raiders have Clive Walford at tight end. Speaking of tradition, he comes from a school (Miami) that’s known for their tight ends. And Walford has every tight end record over Jimmy Graham, Jeremy Shockey, Kellen Winslow II, and Greg Olsen.

He was the star of offseason workouts last year but pulled a hamstring that caused him to miss camp. Once he finally got on the field, he flashed the ability to make big catches downfield. He is a freak athlete at 6’4″, 260 pounds, in the mold of a traditional Raider tight end.
