The Los Angeles Lakers have a very bright future!
And contrary to what a lot of people are saying these days, the present doesn’t look too bad either. It was nice to see Kobe Bryant finish his marathon of a career with a kick as he barely got through last year. With Bryant now gone, many expected the Lakers to score a big free agent.
And since they didn’t, many Lakers fans are disappointed but the offseason is going rather well. Kevin Durant, who the team couldn’t get a meeting with, wouldn’t make the Lakers contenders. If Durant could turn the Lakers into contenders this year, he would be with the Lakers.
But no matter who the Lakers could have brought in, they’re going nowhere until their young core develops. And that can’t happen with a superstar coming in and trying to take over. The Lakers have at three future superstars that need to get their work in to reach their potential.
That’s why the acquisitions of veterans the Lakers made this offseason are good ones. They have just enough left to show the youngsters, especially the 2016 draft class, how it’s done. Former head coach Byron Scott being fired will also help as the youngsters will get more opporutnities.
