In 2013, a not-so good NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins selected edge-rusher Dion Jordan out of Oregon. And needless to say, it hasn’t worked out so well for Jordan and the Dolphins. But talent isn’t the reason this 6’5″, 250-pounder with 4.6 40 speed and long arms hasn’t worked out so far.

Problems with substances seem to have been the main thing holding him back to date. That led Jordan into Stage 3 of the league’s substance-abuse program after failing three tests in his career. So he had to miss the whole 2015 season with a season-long suspension.

He has applied for reinstatement into the NFL but it is not known if he’ll be reinstated just yet. But Jordan’s representatives are very optimistic about his chances of returning for training camp. The optimism comes from Jordan doing all the right things since his suspension.

His agent, Doug Hendrickson, recently told the Miami Herald, “I feel very strongly he will be reinstated without question. He’s done everything he has been asked to do. We feel very good where we’re at. We expect Dion to start training camp with the Dolphins.”

Working out and getting himself into pristine physical condition is one of the right things he has done. Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald tweeted that Jordan looks like a brand new man. With offseason Dolphins have had, Jordan coming back and contributing would be a bonus.

A portion of Jordan’s signing bonus from his rookie contract kicks in a few days after the start of camp So if Jordan is reinstated new coach Adam Gase has a decision to make on him. As optimistic some may be about Jordan’s return, how he is on the field needs to be seen.

And that starts if and when he’s on camp!

Stay tuned.
