Cornerback
Starters: Jason McCourty and Perrish Cox
Backups: Brice McCain and Antwon Blake
Jason McCourty is the leader of this secondary and a reliable performer. He needs to continue producing at a high level if the Titans hope to improve their record. Perrish Cox is slated to be the other starting cornerback, but his hold on the job is less than stable.
Tennessee likes what they have in Brice McCain who will head to training camp as the nickel-back, but could challenge Cox for the starting job.
This position is weakest group on defense. Cox has been inconsistent and McCain is coming off a down year.
Safety
Starters: Da’Norris Searcy and Rashad Johnson
Backups: Kevin Byard and Marqueston Huff
Da’Norris Searcy was a strong free agent signing last year and will be counted on heavily this season. This offseason the Titans stole Rashad Johnson away from the Arizona Cardinals where he had several productive years.
Johnson is an underrated player who could quickly establish himself as one of the biggest offseason steals.
The Titans feel good about the depth at this position thanks to youngsters Kevin Byard and Marqueston Huff. Both are more than capable of jumping into the starting lineup and not missing a beat.
