Defensive End
Starters: Olivier Vernon and Jason Pierre-Paul
Backups: Owa Odighizuwa and Kerry Wynn

The Giants have a lot of money tied up in the defensive line and are expecting this group to produce. They hope that the combination of Olivier Vernon and Jason Pierre-Paul will keep offenses out of rhythm.

Anything less than 10 sacks each would be a major disappointment.

I’m a big believer in Owa Odighizuwa who’s an explosive athlete still working to perfect his craft. He’s a versatile player who can work off the edge or move inside on passing downs. This versatility means Odighizuwa should see plenty of action.

Defensive Tackle
Starters: Johnathan Hankins and Damon Harrison
Backups: Jay Bromley and Louis Nix

It’s going to be nearly impossible for teams to run up the middle against the Giants defense. Johnathan Hankins and Damon Harrison are massive defensive tackle who are elite run defenders.

These two will also make life much easier for New York’s linebackers. They are impossible to move off the line of scrimmage and are capable of occupying blockers. The concern is it’s hard to know how much both will be on the field at the same time.

Opponents could choose to spread the Giants out and feature a pass-heavy attack. This would force New York to bring in defensive lineman with more pass rush ability.
