Outside Linebacker
Starters: JT Thomas and Devon Kennard
Backups: B.J. Goodson and Jonathan Casillas

Devon Kennard is locked in at one of the starting outside linebacker spots, but the other one is for grabs. JT Thomas is coming off a down year and will need to secure his starting spot during training camp.

Jonathan Casillas is a solid veteran who has proven to be a reliable performer. Rookie B.J. Goodson will also get a look during training camp where he’ll likely see action at both outside and inside linebacker.

Kennard has developed into a good all-around linebacker who provides a lot of help in coverage. He’s still developing and should only get better.

Middle Linebacker
Starter: Jasper Brinkely
Backup: Keenan Robinson

Keenan Robinson was brought in during the offseason to compete for the starting middle linebacker job as well as provide depth. However, it appears that the Giants will head into training camp with Jasper Brinkely in the starting lineup.

B.J. Goodson is a sleeper candidate to unseat the two veterans. He’s talented rookie who is capable of making plays sideline to sideline.

New York’s linebacker corps has been an issue over the past few seasons. They hope that the minor additions they made will make a difference. The free agent signing of Damon Harrison will also help.
