2015

After his 2014 campaign, Amerson fell out of favor in Washington. So after he was relegated to backup duty in the first two games in 2015, the Redskins cut him. The Raiders then claimed him off waivers and Amerson made the most of this opportunity and then some.

Once in Oakland, Amerson stepped right into the Raiders’ defense and seemingly didn’t miss a beat. In his first game as a Raider, he played in around half of the team’s defensive snaps. He was challenged plenty at first as most new players to a team generally are.

But as he continued to play well, he eventually became known the best corner the Raiders had. In Week 12, against the Tennessee Titans, Amerson showed it with a Raiders single-game record six passes defensed and an INT. Opposing teams would then start to avoid throwing his way.

He had four INTs and a second-in-the-NFL 26 passes defensed in 14 games for the season. Opposing QBs threw into his coverage for a rating of only 62.7, earning him a No. 15 ranking by Pro Football Focus and their Most Improved Player Award.
