Bottom Line

The Raiders could put signing Amerson to the contract they did right up there with the rest of the good moves they made. He was among the most picked on corners in the NFL last year and he responded by being one of the most productive.

And for those of you that think that last year might have been a fluke, that is not the case. Amerson was developing nicely as a rookie in 2013, butthat development was stunted in 2014 by zone defense. When the Raiders claimed him in 2015, they just allowed him to be himself.

They didn’t make him think about anything, just bump, run, and don’t let your man catch the ball. He didn’t even know the defense last year and still went in and balled right away. Now, Amerson is still an ascending player who’s going into Year 4, developing all that talent he has.

From Willie Brown, to Lester Hayes, to Mike Haynes, to Charles Woodson, to Nnamdi Asomugha, the Raiders have had big, long corners that make it hard to get off the line of scrimmage. Amerson is just among the latest and since he fits the mold, he will live up to his contract.
