Center: Rodney Hudson, Ross Burbank

No surprises here because when healthy, Rodney Hudson is an elite center in the NFL. He’s a guy that can plow open holes in the running game and protect the passer well in the passing game. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 6 center in the NFL for 2015.

He was still the best pass-blocking center in the NFL but his ankle injury affected his ability to drive his man back so his run-blocking grade suffered. But he’s healthy again so we can expect the road-grader of a center Hudson has always been known to be on 2016.

Tony Bergstrom, the team’s backup center filled in well for Hudson in spots last year. But he has moved on to the Houston Texans so Ross Burbank will take his place as the backup center. Raiders fans hope that they don’t have to deal with an injury to Hudson this year.

But Burbank, the undrafted rookie, was a solid guard at Virginia, so run-blocking shouldn’t be a problem. Pass-blocking shouldn’t be a problem for the 6’4″, 310 pounder either as he allowed no sacks on 413 passing plays. His versatility to play both guard spots too will help him.
