Oakland Raiders Two-Deep Depth Chart
Receivers: Amari Cooper, Michael Crabtree, Max McCaffrey, Seth Roberts
I know there are two receivers in a base offense, but due to the nature of the receiver position, I’ll rank them 1-4. No doubt, 2015 first-round pick Amari Cooper is the No. 1 receiver in this offense. He’s the first Raiders receiver to go over 1,000 receiving since Randy Moss in 2005—enough said.
A healthy Cooper will keep Michael Crabtree effective this year as he deals with No. 2 corners. When Cooper was healthy in 2015, Crabtree ripped No. 2 corners up and was on pace to go over 1,000 yards. But when Cooper was hurt, Crabtree saw more No. 1 corners and fell just short.
For the No. 3 receiver for the Raiders, I have Max McCaffrey coming in as the next Rod Streater. He has great hands, 4.3 40 speed, runs good routes, and his father, Ed McCaffrey’s teachings. He’ll line up outside on three-receiver sets so Cooper can do damage in the slot.
Seth Roberts is a nice story, coming in undrafted and all but the Raiders weren’t very deep at receiever. He made some nice, game winning catches for the team and he’ll still get his chances. But I’m expecting big things out of McCaffrey so I believe he’ll slide down a spot in 2016.
