Cleveland Browns Fans Rejoice!
Cleveland Browns fans should be elated now!
WR Josh Gordon was conditionally reinstated back into the NFL Monday afternoon. He hasn’t played in an NFL game since December 21, 2014 due to multiple violations of the NFL’s policy on substance abuse. And Monday, Gordon expressed his elation on his Twitter account.
He said, I’m blessed and grateful to be granted this opportunity. I can’t wait to get back out there and play the game I love in front of the great fans of Cleveland. I want to thank the NFLPA, Commissioner Goodell, the Haslam family and Browns organization, my agent Drew Rosenhaus, as well as my mentors for their continuous support along the way.
“I’ve heard only good things from my teammates about the positive direction the organization is heading and I want to do everything I can to be there to help further that process not only for the team but to better myself as well. Thank you.”
Gordon will be suspended for the first four games of this season if he meets the conditions of his reinstatement but will be allowed to participate in team meetings during those four weeks. If he can behave, Hue Jackson gets a superstar receiver to take the pressure off rookie Corey Coleman.
It will likely take a few games to be himself again but the rusty version is better than a lot of the receivers in the NFL now. But he does get to go to training camp and participate in meetings during his suspension. The fact that he played with QB Robert Griffin III could help too.
I’m not sure what it means for the Browns win-loss record in 2016 but there will be one more player worth the price of admission after Week 4.
