Many were surprise to see Daniel Braverman fall to the seventh round and he’s working hard to make teams regret passing on him.

Daniel Braverman has been a the talk of Chicago Bears training camp and is quickly becoming a fan favorite. He’s already caught the attention of head coach John Fox who stated that Braverman “keeps making plays”.

His roster spot is far from guaranteed with several veterans ahead of him on the depth chart. Braverman is an undersized receiver who uses his quickness and route-running ability to create separation. These skills make him a perfect fit as a slot receiver.

The Bears have Eddie Royal on the roster who figures to be the team’s top slot option. However, Royal is coming off a year where he missed a majority of the season with an injury and is already missing time at training camp with a concussion.

Chicago isn’t in a position where they can cut loose talented players just to hang onto an injury-plagued veteran. The more time Royal misses the more Braverman will have a chance to make plays and turn heads.

The situation in Chicago is a little more complicated because of the team’s lack of depth at tight end. This lack of talent at the position means that the Bears could keep an extra receiver on the roster.

Even without Royal’s injury issues and lack of tight end depth, there’s a good chance that Braverman is able to secure a roster spot.

The Bears have Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White locked in as the starters. That leaves Royal, Braverman, Marc Mariani, Deonte Thompson, Josh Bellamy, Cameron Meredith and Kieren Duncan to battle for the final 3 or 4 receiver spots.

Mariani, Thompson and Duncan bring value as kick returns which means that one of them is likely to stick. Bellamy and Meredith are bigger targets who are likely battling for the same spot. This leaves Braverman as the last man standing.

I’d say it’s about a 80% chance Braverman secures a roster spot once training camp ends. There’s also a strong possibility that he’s not only on the roster but a contributor.
