The Cleveland Browns didn’t know what was going to happen with troubled superstar receiver Josh Gordon back in May. So in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, they took Corey Coleman. Quarterback Robert Griffin III had just signed on with the team in free agency.

So after trading down for more picks, the Browns thought a weapon for RGIII sounded good. There was nothing not to like as Coleman has great hands and great speed to go along with RGIII’s big arm. Then of course, there’s the Baylor connection as they both went to school there.

New Browns Hue coach Hue Jackson may be using some spread concepts in Cleveland for RGIII, making the connection that much better. Then as luck would have it, Gordon was reinstated by the NFL to play again. Gordon is also apart of the Baylor connection, having actually played with RGIII at the university.

But Gordon is unable to do much right now because he’s dealing with a quad injury. So right now, the Baylor connection is with Coleman, whom before now, RGIII never played with. And everything looks pretty good right now as it has been reported that Coleman looks like the best player in the Browns’ camp.

The Browns had a a full-speed intrasquad scrimmage Friday night and Coleman did his thing. Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal tweeted that Coleman caught three long touchdown passes in the scrimmage, two of them covering more than 40 yards.

The Browns need as may dynamic playmakers as they can get and Coleman has the look of one. Sure, it is just practice and it’s not CB Joe Haden he’s doing all that on but it’s still a good start Coleman is off to. It’s been a while since the Browns hit it big in the first round.

So the organization and fans should be excited about Coleman.
