Kellen Winslow Jr.’s father is in the Hall of Fame for his legendary career with the San Diego Chargers. It looked like he had the goods to be the same type of tight end while at the University of Miami too. So the Cleveland Browns traded up to pick him No. 6 overall in 2004.

After breaking his fibula early in his rookie season and missing the 2005 season because of a motorcycle accident, Winslow was able to get his career going. He had 89 catches for 875 yards and three TDs in 2006 and 82 catches for 1,106 yards and five TDs in 2007.

It looked like he indeed had some of his daddy’s magic in him but then, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a second-round pick and a sixth-round pick. From there, he would play for the New England Patriots and the New York Jets before his career would end in 2013.

He had 31 catches for 388 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games for the Jets in 2013. Now, after two years away, Winslow will get a chance to show a team that he can still play pro football. He has a workout planned with the Green Bay Packers, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Media.

Of course, Winslow has all the odds in the world against him to make the final 53-man roster. But he did manage to have a solid career, racking up more than 5,000 receiving yards after that devastating motorcycle accident he had back in 2005 so he does have experience beating the odds.
