The NFL Preseason kicks off tonight with several games on the schedule.

There are plenty of people who ignore the preseason, but there are those who are just happy to see football on TV. The preseason does serve a purpose other than to line the pockets of NFL owners.

It gives the players a chance to work off the rust, become familiar with system changes and develop a relationship with new players. The preseason is especially important for NFL rookies who are looking to establish themselves with their new team.

This article looks at some of the more interesting storylines as we head into the first week of the NFL preseason. Obviously, a lot of the focus is on the quarterback position where there are plenty of new faces in new places.

I’ll touch on Robert Griffin III, the Denver Quarterback situation and the top-two picks of this year’s NFL draft.

Look for another article next week breaking down what to expect for the second week of the preseason. I’m sure plenty of storylines will emerge from this weekend. The second preseason game also features more time for the starters.

This first week is more important for those players on the roster bubble. It’s an opportunity for them to make a name for themselves and potentially carve out a role with the team.
