Mark Sanchez looks like he can do it for the Denver Broncos!

They came into this season knowing they were going to have a great defense in 2016. The only losses from that defense were ILB Danny Trevathan and DE Malik Jackson. And both players had guys that were waiting in the wings to take over for them.

ILB Todd Davis didn’t play a lot last year, but played very well when given the opportunity. And DE Adam Gotsis with great size power and athleticism, would have been a first round pick if not for torn ACL last October. He’ll be just fine once he’s all the way back and worked into the lineup.

The Broncos improved their offensive line this offseason with the acquisition of OT Russell Okung. They have RB C.J. Anderson coming back along with WRs Demaryius Thomas and and Emmanuel Sanders. So if Mark Sanchez can handle being the Broncos’ starting quarterback, the team will go far.

If the first preseason game of the year on Thursday night is indication, everything will be just fine. Sanchez was 7-8 for 83 yards with a 32-yard TD pass to Thomas on the opening drive of the  game. He also showed poise on the play, delivering the ball, knowing he would take a big hit from linebacker Danny Trevathan, while he threw it.

Sanchez wasn’t perfect, throwing an interception on the second drive of the night, but neither was Peyton Manning nor Brock Osweiler in 2015. Sanchez couldn’t have forgotten how to manage a game, but he showed that he can do enough with what’s around him. They don’t need him to throw for 5,000 and 50 TDs.

A lot of people forget Sanchez went to the AFC Championship Game in back to back years and that was with a defense that isn’t as good as the one he is playing with now.

The Broncos are still a very dangerous team in 2016!
