Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph is a big-armed quarterback who needs to work on some areas of his game to climb draft boards.

Mason Rudolph has ideal size and bulk for the quarterback position. He’s able to easily see over his offensive line and can hold up after contact. His size and arm strength are the best attributes he brings to the table.

Rudolph is able to generate good zip to all parts of the field and along the sideline. He has enough arm strength to attack the deep part of the field where he shows the ability to also get good loft. Oklahoma State loves to take shots down the field and aren’t afraid to let Rudolph air it out.

While he is capable of throwing a nice bucket pass, Rudolph needs to be more consistent as there are times he gets too much air under the ball. His interception total would be much higher if his receivers didn’t bail him out so often.

Rudolph is a stiff thrower who features a long throwing motion. He’s very mechanical with his delivery which adds to his release time. His struggles getting a grip on the ball often result in late throws on wide receiver screens.

This is a quarterback who doesn’t quickly process information. He doesn’t appear to trust his reads and will often hold the ball too long. This results in a lot of sacks in situations where he could’ve easily thrown it away.

It’s interesting to see him work in Oklahoma State’s offense because of how they like to move at a fast pace. The reason they seem to go with Rudolph is because of his deep ball and overall potential.

At this point in his career, Rudolph doesn’t project well to the NFL. His hesitation and inability to read a defense is a major problem. The long throwing motion is also an issue that most teams will struggle to look past.

Rudolph is on the NFL draft radar because he does have good size, arm strength and some ability to attack the deep part of the field. However, he’ll need to show some major improvements in order to be seen as a legitimate prospect.
