As his offense struggles, San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly continues to trot quarterback Blaine Gabbert unto the field. Meanwhile, he has Colin Kaepernick on the same knee he’s on during the national anthem.

The great Herman Edwards once said, “You play to win the game! Hello! You play to win the game!”

But does San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly play to win the game?

If his stint with the Philadelphia Eagles is any indicator, we all have to say that isn’t the case. The Eagles still have a lot of talent over there but Kelly ran a lot of it out of town. LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson, and Jeremy Maclin all left a good team because of him.

He seems to have a problem with any player that doesn’t treat him like the God Father. But to do that, they would have to kiss his ring and Kelly doesn’t even have any rings. Not only does he not have a National Championship ring from college but he has No. Super Bowl ring.

I understand that Kaepernick had surgery this offseason and he hasn’t quite put all his muscle back on. But if he’s not ready to play, he shouldn’t even be suited up for games. I also understand that with a new coach, which Kelly is, you have to earn you way back.

And obviously, Kaepernick hasn’t been able to do that, missing all the time he missed due to the surgery. But Gabbert has earned the right for Kaepernick to start with his inaccurate passes. Kaepernick has been to Super Bowl so Kelly has to have a plan for him.

Is it really to build his body back up to be ready to start?

Is it to punish him for his stance or kneeling on the national anthem?

Is he tanking for a 1st-round quarterback in May?

What’s up, Chip?
