Now We Know What’s up With Colin Kaepernick
For some time now, San Francisco 49ers fans had to wonder what the plan is for quarterback Colin Kaepernick. And just hours after I wrote an article about it, the truth comes out.
At 1-4, the San Francisco 49ers are reaching the point of on return for this football season. Nevermind the playoffs and standings, I’m talking about losing their fan base. And they got there by starting bust of a quarterback Blaine Gabbert the whole way.
As Gabbert literally throws the season away, the fans chanted “We want Kap! We want Kap!” During the 49ers’ 33-21 loss to the Arizona Thursday, Gabbert could consistently he the broads side of a barn. And that led me to ask a bunch of questions.
Is this punishment for his protest?
Did Kaepernicks’ attempt to get traded have a hand in this?
Does he not get along with Kaepernick?
Does he not like Kaepernick’s afro?
And thankfully, it’s neither!
The problem is the QB’s contract guarantees him money in the case of injury. But now, he and the 49ers are closing in on a restructured contract that alleviates those concerns. The new deal could be completed as early as Friday.
The restructured deal would eliminate roughly $17 million in injury guarantees for 2017. It also includes giving Kaepernick an option to void the deal after this season. Eliminating injuries and allowing Kaepernick to potentially test the free-agent market is a win-win.
Hurry up and get it signed because Gabbert is losing games.
