The 4-0 Denver Broncos will be starting 2016 1st-round pick Paxton Lynch Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. That makes him the fifth rookie quarterback to start in the NFL this season.

Denver Broncos GM John Elway loved the arm strength and athleticism quarterback Paxton Lynch showed at Memphis. He loved it so much, he traded up into the first round to pick him. Elway and head coach Gary Kubiak had plans to redshirt him and some day make him the starter.

After mulling a few other options for the 2016 starter, the Broncos settled on Trevor Siemian. And of course, the results have been just fine as he has the Broncos sitting pretty at 4-0. Siemian isn’t just a product of the Broncos defense either.

In three games and some change, Siemian has thrown for six TDs, three INTs, and a QB rating of 99.6. But he is now dealing with an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder from Week 5 vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So some day is going to turn into Sunday for Lynch.

With Siemian out, Lynch is all set to make his first NFL start. And it looks like Austin Davis, not Siemian, will be Lynch’s backup as Siemian is likely not to be active. But there is a possibility he suits up as he is listed as questionable on the injury report.

Lynch was the third quarterback drafted in the first round of the 2016 draft. And he joins Carson Wentz, Dak Prescott, Jacoby Brissett and Cody Kessler as QBs in his class to start as rookies. Lynch played well in relief of Siemian in last week’s win over the Buccaneers.

So there’s no reason to look at this as a problem.
