The Green Bay Packers are stuck in an offensive funk that has been going on since last year. A dynamic playmaker like Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey would go a long way to righting the ship.

Christian McCaffrey is a all-purpose running back who makes plays all over the field. He picks up yards on the ground, through the air and on special teams. This is someone who brings some instant juice to an offense.

There are a lot of media outlets that have notices the Packers offensive struggles. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky does a good job breaking down why the Packers need to quickly fix this issue.

Everyone on the offensive side of the ball has played a role in the teams struggles– including Aaron Rodgers. He has had issues with his accuracy, getting rid of the ball and turnovers. This Packers team will only right the ship if Rodgers gets back to his old self.

Looking ahead, Green Bay could look to add more weapons to help out Rodgers. McCaffrey would be a great fit and give the team a more reliable option than Eddie Lacy. The weight and condition issues just make an unknown.

McCaffrey would fit better than Lacy because of his versatility. Green Bay doesn’t want to take the ball out of Rodgers hands and solely focus on a running game. This isn’t a problem with McCaffrey because of his ability to produce in the passing game.

The Packers are already trying to mimic McCaffrey’s skills by putting Randall Cobb and Ty Montgomery in the backfield. This approach only goes so far because neither of them come close to McCaffrey in the rushing department.

Adding McCaffrey won’t be easy for the Packers. There are a ton of teams in the NFL that would love to add him to the mix. It’s likely that Green Bay would need to orchestrate a trade in order to land his services.

It might be worth the price because as long as Aaron Rodgers is on the roster Green Bay is a team that wants to win through its offense.
