The Oakland Raiders spent all kinds of money on the defense this offseason but it’s worse than last year. And they let Taylor Mays, who didn’t sign for much last year, out of town. But it sure is easy to see his impact on the team now.

Remember Taylor Mays?

Yeah, the guy who had a big impact on the Raiders last year and the team let him walk in free agency. The guy who had the best year of his career under defensive backs coach Marcus Robertson. Multiple teams, including the Raiders cut him before last season.

But the Raiders brought him back and he helped solve the problems they were having on defense. They signed Mays, claimed David Amerson off waivers and the defense got much better. But Only Amerson got the credit and the contract extension for it.

Amerson deserves every penny he got but Mays should have gotten some love too. He was just as big a reason why the Raiders defense improved as Amerson if not bigger. Amerson is still ballin’ but the Raiders defense is worse while Mays is unsigned.

He is set to come off his suspension next week for smoking that bud. There are some teams interested in his services and the Raiders should be one of them. The Raiders defense is obviously missing what he brought to them while off to a bad start.

Turn the page to see what and why they should bring him back.
