30. Chicago Bears – 2-7

The Chicago Bears were hoping to come out of the bye week strong against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the first half, they were able to keep up with the Buccaneers by scoring 10 points. But that would be all they scored, falling 36-10 to the Buccaneers.

Jay Cutler returned from a sprained right thumb against the Vikings. In that game, he didn’t turn the ball over. Against the Buccaneers, he turned the ball over three times. Cutler threw two interceptions and fumbled the ball twice, with one resulting in a safety.

Cutler went 16-of-30 for 182 yards and a touchdown. The Bears just couldn’t get going in the second half and those turnovers didn’t help. The Buccaneers dominated the second half. The Bears defense had three sacks and one interception but couldn’t stop the Buccaneers offense.

Now, the Bears have to play the next four games without their top wide receiver. Alshon Jeffery has been suspended without pay for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing drugs. The Bears will struggle even more against the New York Giant without Jeffery next.
