Marcel Reece has found a home for this season.
This writer was absolutely sick for former Oakland Raiders fullback Marcel Reece. He was class personified on the field, off the field, and in the community. The 3-time Pro Bowl player was the only Raider worth the price of admission at one point.
Then he used a substance that’s legal but turns into something illegal when it gets in your system. The NFL knew it but still, he was suspended for one game last year and three this year. Then understudy Jamize Olawale played well, making him expendable.
So the Raiders cut Reece after he was there for all the horrible years and won’t be for the good ones. A player like him deserves to see the playoffs, where the Raiders are likely going this year. Then the good news came today that he will see the playoffs this year.
It won’t be with the Raiders but it will be with the Seattle Seahawks, whom he just agreed to sign with Monday. Reece is headed back to the Pacific Northwest where he played at the University of Washington. Since being cut by the Raiders, Reece has worked out for several teams.
That list of teams included the Patriots, Jets and Bengals before the Seahawks worked him out last Friday. Reece isn’t a bruising fullback but the former receiver is a weapon in the passing game. It will be interesting to see how quarterback Russell Wilson uses him.
The Seahawks got a good player!
Good for you, Marcel!
