Chicago Bears

Draft Pick Range: 2-11

Needs: CB, QB, S

According to the Chicago Bears’ defensive stats, they’re not getting all-out torched. If anything, the defense is young and could be a strength moving forward. “Could be” are the keywords there. For anyone that has watched them play it’s clear they do not have a lock-down corner.

And while I still believe Kyle Fuller is a very talented player, he has had some issues staying on the field. Picking up some more talent at safety wouldn’t hurt either. The Bears aren’t getting a lot of help out of their current tandem and have no one really covering over the top.

Acquiring one talent at either of those two positions would turn that “could be” defense into a more definitive one. Don’t be fooled, if the Bears’ need for a cornerback is 1A, then their need for a quarterback is 1B. If a top QB emerges as a first round-talent for the 2017 draft, the Bears have every reason to pull the trigger on one.

First of all, it is time to close the book on Jay Cutler; and even though Matt Barkley has shown some flare, we can assume that the two teams he was previously on both concluded he is not a franchise QB. Finally, back to the Bears’ QB situation: all of Cutler’s backups have literally outplayed him statistically…and I’m not misusing the word “literally.”
