2017 NFL Mock Draft: Jonathan Allen Still at No. 1
If the Bengals add another edge-rusher to the mix, they’ll have something for opposing quarterbacks to worry about. So here at No 9 overall, the Bengals select defensive end Derek Burnette. Burnette is a little more compact than your average edge rusher but still has what it takes.
He has tremendous burst off the edge and a great spin move to go with other counter moves. He also plays the run well, something else the Bengals can use on their defense. Barnette will make the defense better right away but there are no promises with Marvin Lewis as head coach.

The Cincinnati Bengals just went from playoff meltdown to picking No. 9. overall in the draft. Looking at the talent already on the roster, it looks like they need to draft a coach. (lol) My bad, they don’t draft coaches into the NFL but that’s what the Bengals in the most these days.
But since we’re talking players here, the team needs to get after the passer better. The Bengals can’t survive the AFC North with Ben Roethlisberger and Joe Flacco with no pass rush. Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap are a good foundation of a pass rush that can get to the quarterback.
