EDGE. Texas A&M. Myles Garrett. 2. player. 42. The San Francisco 49ers seem to be most interested in New England Patriots OC Mike Shanahan. And McDaniels reportedly likes the 49ers job the best if he is to leave his current job. So in this mock draft, I’m going to assume that McDaniels is the 49ers’ coach.
Shanahan is obviously an offensive mind and they usually want a young quarterback to groom. But I seriously doubt even he would turn down a transcendent defensive player. Plus it’s up to Colin Kaepernick to leave $14 million on the table in San Francisco this year.

Shanahan just might be able to get Kaepernick to play at the level he played at under Jim Harbaugh. So here at No. 2 overall, I believe the 49ers will take Myles Garrett from Texas A&M. With this pick, the 49ers will have finally effectively replaced Aldon Smith.

He’ll be joining a healthy Navorro Bowman and the interior lineman they’ve recently drafted. And his presence would drastically improve the defense, especially at getting after the quarterback. There’s nowhere else to go but the 49ers would be on the way up with Garrett.
