This look at the 2017 NFL Draft Offensive Tackle Rankings shows that there’s a lack of top-end talent in this year’s class.

Team’s looking to find an upgrade at the offensive tackle position in the 2017 NFL Draft are going to have a hard time. This group of prospects is best described as projects that will need time to develop into reliable starters.

Even the prospects at the top of my rankings have flaws in their game that will be exploited by the savvy pass rushers in the NFL.

Utah’s Garett Bolles is my top-rated tackle prospect and he has the potential to eventually develop into an above-average starter at left tackle. The issue is that he doesn’t have a ton of experience and needs time to perfect his craft.

This is the same situation for Wisconsin’s Ryan Ramczyk another highly touted prospect. The value at the position is in the middle rounds where there are a handful of intriguing developmental prospects. It’s easier for a team to be patient with mid-round selections than it is with 1st rounders.

An interesting storyline for next season will be how these rookie offensive tackles compare to the edge rushers in this class. The 2017 NFL Draft has a good number of defensive edge prospects who will easily overshadow the offensive group.
