Kyle Shanahan Taking Jacob Tamme to San Fran?
As we all know, Kyle Shanahan left Atlanta for San Francisco. And impending free agent TE Jacob Tamme just might follow him.
Kyle Shanahan was the OC of the most explosive offense in the NFL. The defense improved throughout the season but it was the offense that took the Atlanta Falcons the Super Bowl. And of course. assistants from Super Bowl teams usually get head coaching jobs.
So the big challenge for Shanahan now is installing his offense with the San Francisco 49ers. Having guys that already know your systems helps the new team make the transition. At the same time, when a player follows you to another team, it show players like playing for you.
Unfortunately for Shanahan, guys like QB Matt Ryan and WR Julio Jones aren’t free agents. But TE Jacob Tamme is and according to ESPN, Tamme could very well sign with the 49ers. He’s actually coming off a disappointing 2016 season in Atlanta.
He had 22 catches, 210 yards and three TDs then missed the second half of the season on injured reserve. And we don’t know if new Falcons OC Steve Sarkisian has any kind of plans for him. There’s only one ball with Jones and Mohamed Sanu to throw to.
However, Tamme indicated that he would like to stay in Atlanta if he can work something out, saying, “I love being a Falcon, love my teammates, love what we have going on here in this organization,” Tamme told ESPN. “I’m interested to see what the future holds.”
Stay tuned, a healthy Tamme would help the 49ers on the field and in the meeting room.
