I went with Haason Reddick last time around thinking too much about need instead of value. His lack of experience at ILB has his value somewhere in the second round. PLus the Oakland Raiders would do fine at the ILB position in re-signing Perry Riley Jr.
The Raiders should be focused on getting a star at No. 24 overall instead of reaching for need anyway. However, when you have a need and there’s a player worth that pick, you make it.. Khalil Mack came in 2014, Amari Cooper came in 2015 and Karl Joseph came in 2016.
<div class=. WR. Washington. Obi Melifonwu. 24. player. 28

So to keep the hits coming, rolling with S Obi Melifonwu is a good idea here. He’s 6’4″, 230 pounds and expects to run a 4.4 40 when he gets to the NFL Scouting Combine. He’s the same type of freak athlete Taylor Mays was when he came out of USC in 2010. .

But the difference between Mays and Melifonwu is that Melifonwu has fluid hips like a CB. That means he can cover one-on-one so he can match up with and shut down athletic TEs. He can go in and give the Raiders an answer for guys like Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.
