The Kansas City Chiefs are very close to becoming contenders out of the AFC. But teams that can’t stop the run don’t generally make it very far in the playoffs. With all that inclement weather, teams are going to use the running game.
And the Chiefs were No. 25 against the run in 2016 so it’s time for them to improve that. ILB Derrick Johnson is a good player but he’s 34 now and just popped his Achilles. We don’t know how this ends so the Chiefs should draft his replacement.

Jarrad Davis out of Florida is a bit of a reach to me but most scouts give him a first-round grade. As far as playing the run goes, he is a first-rounder but his struggles in coverage drop him to me. However, he’s very athletic and can get better in coverage once he’s taught.

The Chiefs can simply take him off the field on passing downs, until he learns how to cover. But the one thing he can go in and do immediately is help the Chiefs stop the run. And that’s how he can possibly help the Chiefs become contenders in 2017.
. ILB. Florida. Jarrad Davis. 27. player. 124
