The Oakland Raiders Should go After Terrelle Pryor
It’s time for the Oakland Raiders to bring Terrelle Pryor back home!
According to NFL Network’s Albert Breer, the Cleveland Browns are unlikely to franchise WR Terrelle Pryor. If they did, Pryor would become the highest paid WR in the NFL. Pryor looked good this year but doesn’t deserve more than Atlanta Falcons star Julio Jones.
So when he hits the free agent market on March 9, the Oakland Raiders should look to bring him home. That is the the Raiders’ guy as he was legendary owner Al Davis’ last draft pick 2011. At 6’5″, 230 pounds, Pryor ran a 4.38 40 and had a 40-plus vertical leap.
So you know Davis thought of moving him to WR or TE if QB didn’t work out for him. But Davis died in 2011 and Pryor refused to make the switch before he left the Raiders in 2013. He was out of the league in 2014 because no teams interested in his services as a QB.
Then he came back to the NFL in 2015 with a more humble, open-minded approach. After getting his feet wet at the position that year, Pryor came out and balled in 2016. He had 77 catches for 1,007 yards and four TDs with a 13.1-per-catch average.
He did that with bad QBs throwing to him so imagine him catching passes for Derek Carr. Plus he would be out there with with Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper. This would allow Cooper to go into the slot on three-WR sets and make the Raiders unstoppable.
If Bruce Irvin plans on recruiting free agents, Pryor should be the first player he hooks up with.
